WSS offers a range of roles which you can complete by attending the weekly Voluntary Work Experience Group (VWE).

Skills you'll develop

Admin Skills

Photocopying and distribution, filing, laminating and stationery ordering, stock control.

Excel spreadsheets and calculations, PowerPoint, Access database, Mail-merge, E-mail and the Internet, PC maintenance and repairs.

Type or produce and distribute letters, documents, reports, agendas, and minutes to an adequate standard of presentation.

Inputting of data onto database, basic skills to sort, filter, and file data.

Answering telephone/making calls as required.

Filling out petty cash receipts to an adequate standard and assisting the co-ordinator and treasurer with financial duties and distribution of expenses and wages.

To help support all aspects of promotional events within the community, leaflet design, production and distribution, fundraising event management etc. as required.

Design, building and updating.

Skills for self-employment and business development.

Update worksheets, work diaries and whiteboard, monitor progress and communicate task completion.

Provision of support to other Volunteers and provision of Guided Self –Help over the telephone or in person, under the direction and supervision of the manager or other WSS staff members.

This scheme will be delivered in collaboration with Mary Frances Trust-a mental health charity.

The role includes supporting a client over a period of 3 months to help them overcome any barrier to engaging in meaningful activities whether it is a part of their personal life or work life. Helping a client from the age of 16 plus as a volunteer and not a friend.

Tasks will include taking them shopping, to medical appointments, groups to interviews and other activities, subjects to risk management.

You will be required to help write a risk assessment for all clients and situations and carry them out. All visits with the client will be recorded on an activity log sheet and WSS staff will update the client’s file.

You will have access to a phone which you will solely use for WSS Solutions Together purposes and not for any personal use.

Being aware of service user confidentiality and the data protection act.

To comply with all WSS Policies and Procedures.

Awareness of Health and Safety in the workplace and employer/employee responsibility and performing duties in such a way that the health and safety of self and others are protected.
